  • Time TBA: In Eugene, Or., Federal Judge Ann Aiken of the Oregon District will hear the case if the appeals court allows it to go to trial. Aiken and a colleague filed a letter with the appeals court that said they do not believe the federal government would be "irreversibly damaged" by the discovery process, and that the lawsuit is "a complex case involving vital interests on both sides."

The Nature Stewards gardeners will meet every Saturday at the Garden plot throughout May - October. Gloves provided. Waterers will be selected to to steward the garden plot during the summer. if interested in the duties and the bounties, contact Grace Stiller.

    Participants learn about healthy garden environments that are beneficial to humans and wildlife, and experience hands-on activities and techniques for sustainable gardening. Our Sustainable Gardening workshops include topics like incorporating edible natives in your veggie and flower garden, using organic fertilizers, composting and worm bins. Participants have the opportunity to volunteer at local community gardens. They learn skills and principles that are relevant and used throughout their lives as environmental stewards and sustainable gardeners.

  • KCD Plant Sale - Volunteers needed to help with the Nature Stewards Booth

    Volunteer helping with our booth should arrive at 8:30 am, just before the event opens.
    The King Conservation District offers a variety of native trees and shrubs for conservation purposes such as wildlife habitat, windbreaks, hedgerows, reforestation and stream enhancement. The plants are bareroot stock which means they do not come in pots or burlap bags, but are harvested from the field in winter when the plants are dormant and ready to be replanted. Bareroot plants are affordable, hardy, have well-developed roots, are easy to handle, transport and plant.
