  • National Trails Day event/hike. Meet at Lake Boren Park

    June 3, 2017 Sat @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm
Lake Boren Park, 13058 SE 84th Way, Newcastle, WA 98059, USA

June 3rd, 2017, Saturday: 9 AM to 1:00 PM. National Trails Day event/hike. Meet at Lake Boren Park where there's plenty of parking and restrooms. Hike from Lake Boren Park to the East CrossTown Trail. This trail from the 1980s, but it disappeared after subdivision of the land above, and is being rebuilt. It's a woodsy trail, approximately 4-mile round-trip walk (about 2 hours) or prefer not to take a narrow trail across a steep slope, you can turn around and go back the way you came after visiting a peek-a-boo view overlook. If the weather cooperates, you will be able to see beyond Newcastle and Renton to Lake Washington, Mt. Rainier, and the Olympic Mountains. You might be surprised at how fast this easy hike gains elevation (about 450 vertical feet). More intrepid and fit hikers can continue on a loop hike of about 8 miles, or add another mile to go all the way to Cougar Mountain Regional Wildland Park. Join us!
