This exhibit by Danny Mansmith is inspired by walks in the woods when Danny moved from Chicago to the Seattle area.  Subject matter of his intricate drawings include tree, birds, wildlife and the legendary mermaids and mermans.  The show runs though January 2018.

Participants learn about healthy garden environments that are beneficial to humans and wildlife, and experience hands-on activities and techniques for sustainable gardening. Our Sustainable Gardening workshops include topics like incorporating edible natives in your veggie and flower garden, using organic fertilizers, composting and worm bins. Participants have the opportunity to volunteer at local community gardens. They learn skills and principles that are relevant and used throughout their lives as environmental stewards and sustainable gardeners.

Description:Volunteer helping with our booth should arrive at 8:30 am, just before the event opens. The King Conservation District offers a variety of native trees and shrubs for conservation purposes such as wildlife habitat, windbreaks, hedgerows, reforestation and stream enhancement. The plants are bareroot stock which means they do not come in pots or burlap bags, but are harvested from the field in winter when the plants are dormant and ready to be replanted. Bareroot plants are affordable, hardy, have well-developed roots, are easy to handle, transport and plant.

    Burien Farmers’ Market – every Thursday from the beginning of May through mid-October. The Burien Farmers’ Market has developed into a very successful market with 40 to 50 vendors each week. Vendors include food booths, native plants, handmade goods, farm fresh products and fresh baked products.
