“Up-Cycle Native Plants” Stewards Rescue Native Plants
Volunteers rescue plants from demolition in areas slated for development, transplanting to parks and backyard habitats. Many beautiful native plants can be up-cycled to our nursery and used in our “Boots on the Ground” restoration, Rain Garden projects, and fundraisers. Lupine plants and seeds are perfect candidates for salvaging in abandoned fields that are slated for development.
In 2019 we salvaged a few plants and many seeds from the native Lupines. In 2020 this field on Des Moines Way became a construction site and staging area for many heavy equipment vehicles that widened the adjacent road.
